In a significant stride towards community welfare, the serene village of Bharko in Samvad Sutra, Amarpur (Banka) recently witnessed the inauguration of a transformative 90-day non-residential training camp. Panchayat head Diwakar Jha lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of this noble initiative, which focuses on the proper care of the elderly and children under the Prime Minister's Scheme.
Nestled near the picturesque Purna Pokhar in Bharko village, the Anganwadi center became the epicenter for this crucial training program. More than five dozen enthusiastic men and women, aged between 20 to 45 years and hailing from various villages within Bharko Panchayat, actively participated in the training sessions.
Guided by the Sevadeep Foundation, the initiative was spearheaded by a team committed to community well-being. The Managing Director of the Foundation, Robin Smith, emphasized the primary focus of the scheme – the mental development and healthcare of the elderly and children residing in rural areas.
The training program, a brainchild of the Prime Minister's Scheme, aims to bridge the gaps in healthcare and mental well-being within rural communities. Robin Smith highlighted the critical need for proper care, especially for the elderly, citing the potential risks of irritability and various serious diseases that may arise due to neglect. Additionally, the initiative addresses the absence of systematic care and health checkups for children.
The 90-day curriculum is meticulously designed to cover a spectrum of topics essential for the holistic development of both elderly individuals and children. Participants engage in interactive sessions focusing on mental health, physical well-being, and specialized care requirements tailored to the unique needs of these two vulnerable demographics.
